How to Setup Windows Email on a PC?

Requirements:

Steps to setting up your SmarterMail in Windows Email:

  1. Login to Windows Email.
  2. Start system configuration
    1. If you already have Windows Email setup and are just adding your Smartermail account continue. (If you don't have an account proceed to Step 2.2)
      • Select the Accounts tab
      • Then select the Email icon

        (Next, proceed to Step 3)
    2. If you don't have a Thunderbird Account Set
      • Select Add e-mail acount link.

  3. 3. In the next screen complete the following information:
    • E-Mail Address: Enter the email address that you used to login into Smartermail. For example: name@yourdomain.com
    • .Password: Enter the password that you use to login into Smartermail.
    • Display name for your sent messages:Enter the Name that you want to show in the email.
    • Check Manually configure server settings and click Next
  4. In the next screen complete the following information:
    • Incoming server information
    • Server Type: The Account Type default is set to POP3. We recommend changing this to IMAP.  
    • You can select this from the drop down menu.

      Note: If you access your email account from multiple devices or computers, such as an iphone, ipad, work computer, and home computer you must use IMAP. If you are only checking your email from one computer you can use either IMAP or POP3.     • Server address: Please type mail.pencilneck.ca .
    • Port: 993
    • Check Requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Logon user name: Type the email address account that you want to add
    • Outcoming server information
    • Server address: Please type mail.pencilneck.ca
    • Port: 465
    • Check Requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Check Requires authentication
    • Finally select Next
  5. Once you see your email account was added screen select Finish and you are done. 

Note:

If for any reason you can’t send, or receive emails successfully, make sure that:

  1. User, Server and Login information has been entered correctly
  2. You have created your email account in Smartermail before you set up your Windows Email account
  3. The DNS has been successfully changed
