How do you protect us from illegal email relaying?

Metisentry utilizes the "Read-then-Send" method, aka POP-before-SMTP.

Using this method, users authenticate into our email system by checking their email using POP or IMAP protocols first.  Only after a successful login will the server allow emails to be sent,  during the session and for a short time after.   After the short access time passes,  you must check email again before attempting to send email.

If you're receiving a message like, "You should authenticate first, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 473", you will need to go into your Mail Account settings and Disable your Secure or SSL connection for your outbound mail server.
